About the Founder
As a parent of two boys, I am very concerned about the state of education in the world. It’s broken! Together we can fix it!
Mohammed J. Kabir (goes by Ko-bir) is a technology entrepreneur and published tech author. He studied computer engineering at California State University in Sacramento, California.
During his junior year at the university, Kabir developed his first commercial software and published it via USENET and CDROM.COM. His venture into commercial software continued at Berkeley Design, a UC Berkeley based startup founded by world-renowned electrical engineers and hackers. He helped develop benchmarking tools that allowed semiconductor companies, such as Intel, Texas Instruments, etc., benchmark their digital signal processors. While at Berkeley Design, Kabir was directly supervised and mentored by Phil Lapsley, co-author of the NNTP protocol and a contributor of the Berkeley Unix.
Kabir started his first software company in 1996 and developed one of the earliest web-based financial information portals for LPL Financial (NASDAQ: LPLA), massive intranets for telecom companies like Lucent. His current company, EVOKNOW, Inc., the parent company of Block Sense One, was founded in 2001. EVOKNOW — Evolutionary Knowledge, – is based in Rocklin in Northern California.
Kabir was an early adopter of Linux in the early 90s. He decided to explore Linux in depth open usability prospectives which led to publishing a number of books on Linux, web development, security, and administration. His books include Red Hat Security & Optimization, Apache Server Bible, CGI Primer, Red Hat Linux 6/7/8/9, SUSE Linux, etc. Most of his books were published in all major languages around the world.
